Ugh....

I am SO sick of the snow. I told Jared that this "Winter" storm at the end of April is a sign that we need to move back to California!

Anyone know of an awesome job for me? Or a great salon for Jared?

The New Place!

We finally moved into our new basement apartment and I couldn't be happier to have my own space again. We are still in Layton for now, and will be living month-to-month until we figure out what we are going to do. I need to preface this that I should have let Jared take the photos...I just do not have the talent! Hopefully it will give you all an idea of what our place looks like, and put my mom's mind at ease to know where we are living. Our lovely, desolate entryway.

This is the half-bath, and the way it is set up is really weird because it's in the entryway, and it honestly looks like it should be a coat closet. But then SURPRISE it's the bathroom! Here is the front room taken from the entryway. Jared and I have deemed this the "Couch Room" because our couch takes up pretty much the entire room. I guess that is the problem with buying a "Jared-sized" couch.
Here is another shot of the couch room. Doesn't it look so comfy?? Definitely one of the things we missed most while living with the Norton's.

Here is the laundry room! I LOVE being able to do laundry whenever I want. Thanks to Jazmine and Brenton for selling us their almost-new washer and dryer set. They are being well used.
Here is the couch room and dining room. I tried to do some of those panoramic shots...I just don't have a steady hand. But at least it gives you an idea of how the room is set up. There isn't really a separate dining room, which is kind of lame, but the kitchen has some good space, which made having the dining room possible. Oh, and this is our brand new table. We ended up giving our old one to the Norton's, and this was our new purchase. LOVE IT

Here's the kitchen. It's really spacious, which I love, and has tons of storage. The only bummer is that there isn't a pantry so we're using the closet in the family room to store a lot of our food.
Here's the full bathroom. There is a door that leads from our bedroom directly into the bathroom, and also a door from the hallway.

Here is the second bedroom/computer room. We need a computer chair because our dining room chairs are all too tall. Right now, we are using the stability ball, but it just isn't tall enough.

Ah yes, and here are all of the boxes of books, fine china, and sheet music. I am still debating on whether I am even going to unpack them. After moving four times in 18 months I am hesitant to unpack things that I know I won't use in the next six months.

Here's the hallway

Here is our bedroom. I love how big it is...and that not all of our stuff has to be crammed in one little room. : )

And here is our walk-out patio. I am planning a garden for this summer and I am so excited! We have never lived anywhere that had a place for us to plant anything.
All in all, I am really excited to be living on our own again. Right now Jared is still unemployed, so that's been a little stressful, but I am grateful that my job has been offering overtime so that we are able to meet all of our financial obligations. I feel blessed to be living here, and so grateful that we were able to find a place in our current ward because I love being in the YW program and I didn't feel like my team with these particular girls was up yet.

TRULY HONEST

Okay, I was tagged by my favorite person EVER, Melissa! Here are ten TRULY honest things about me!

1. I grind my teeth so hard at night (subconciously of course) that I have literally filed down my teeth on one side. That's why, when I smile you can see that my teeth in the front go up at a slant. I wear a nightguard now, but I chew through it usually within 6 weeks and have to get a new one. I guess I am a little intense! : )
2. I LOVE to dance! I love it, love it love it. It is not uncommon to see my dancing at my desk, in the bathroom at work (yes I have been caught, and yes I still do it, I just can't seem to help myself!), or doing a little interpretive dance just to be funny. I try to moonwalk with jazz hands, regularly, to which my co-workers can attest.
3. I automatically assume that people don't like me, when I first meet someone. Until I feel like a person likes me ,I am quiet and withdrawn because I don't want to overwhelm them with all of the crazy-fun that is LINDSEY! Once you like me though...watch out! I am wild and crazy and tons of fun!
4. I hate mean, judgemental, people. I will automatically side with the underdog ALWAYS. If you make fun of other people, put them down, or tease others (even if it's just to be "funny") you will be on my LIST. I think that one thing this world is lacking is COMPASSION. I am not perfect, but I do my best, and I hate when other people do not see how their actions affect or hurt others.
5. I am meticulous about being clean. Not to the point that I am OCD, but when I wash in the shower (and that has to be done everyday, regardless of if I am going anywhere, sick, no matter what!) I have to make sure that soap has touched every inch. I also don't feel clean if I use anything other than soap...bodywash just doesn't do it for me.
6. I have pretty much the worst memory known to man. Unless I was in a picture, I will probably forget that I was there. This does work to my advantage though. If I hate you...give me 6 months and I will forget why we fought, or that I didn't like you and we can be friends again!
7. My friends call me "The Vault". When you tell me a secret, you can pretty much expect for me to die with it. Being trustworthy is important to me, and that's why I hate people who tell other's secrets for the pure joy of passing on gossip. It goes the other way though. If you break my trust, we can still be friends, but don't expect me to ever trust you again, SORRY.
8. I have read the scriptures every night, since I was 14. Yep, that's right. EVERY night. I haven't missed one time. I take pride in that : ) For those of you who are counting - that's 13 years! The scriptures have always been important to me because that's where my testimony of the gospel started and became solidified.
9. I hated having straight hair. My whole life I hated that I had big, frizzy, curly hair. So when I was 23 and had some money to burn, I had my hair chemically straightened. Let me tell you, the grass is always greener on the other side. I hated every minute of having straight hair. Now that my hair has gained some of it's curl back (albeit, not nearly as curly as it was) I feel more myself than I have in years.
10. And finally....I really regret not being able to go on a mission. I was actually putting my papers in for the second time when Jared came into my life. I am not saying I regret marrying Jared, not at all! He is the best thing that's ever happened to me! I just wish that I would have been able to serve before getting married. When we started getting serious, I told him that the only way I would marry him is if he PROMISED me we would go on a mission together. The gospel is the most important thing in my life, and I have always wanted to spread the word through love and service, that Jesus is the Christ and that through Him, we will all live again.

Okay, those are my ten TRUTHS! I now tag:

Young Women's "Christ Walk"

For Mutual last week, and to celebrate Easter, the Young Women leaders decided to put together a "Christ Walk". It was absolutely incredible. I have to forewarn you that the pictures are not very good. I was trying to take some shots without detracting from the Spirit. We started out in an Easter room. It was decorated with bunnies and other Easter goodies. We had each of the kids show up with an Easter basket and they also had to carry a 2-liter bottle filled with water. They talked about Easter and how the kids would soon learn the true meaning of Easter as they took a walk through the last week of Christ's life. We had two guides, dressed in white, who led us through these events.

Next, we all went into a room portraying "The Triumphal Entry" and a ward member spoke about Jesus's entry into Jerusalem. The decorations were awesome, and at the end each kid received a small palm leaf as a symbol of the event to go into their Easter basket.

Here's the donkey Christ rode in on as well as the cobblestones covered in small palm leafs.

Next, we traveled to the Last Supper. Here we had a presentation on how the upper room was found to hold the supper as well as the washing of the apostles feet. The speaker concentrated on the service and love required from the Lord for this humble act. The kids then received a small rag to symbolize the rag Jesus used to wash the Apostle's feet to go into their baskets.

The next room was the Garden of Gethsemane. Here, the speaker talked about the great suffering and sacrifice of our Savior Jesus Christ in the garden. He concentrated on the fact that Jesus suffered more in that garden than even HE was prepared for and that is why he asked for the cup to pass from Him. What he suffered in the garden far surpassed the pain he would feel on the cross. Even though the pain was seemingly unbearable, He sacrificed himself to release us from our sins.

The kids were then told that the 2-liter water bottles they carried symbolized the sin and burdens of this life and they were invited to leave the bottles at Christ's feet. He took on our sins and our burdens through his sacrifice.
Next, we moved to the Crucifixion. Bishop Johnson was able to give the kids a history of why Jesus was hung and how this fulfilled prophecy. We also watched a beautiful rendition of "His Hands" with a lovely video of miracles and acts of service throughout Christ's life.
Next, we entered the tomb. Here we learned that Jesus was risen! They were given a small rock to be reminded of the stone that kept man out but could not keep Jesus in. They were also given an egg to be reminded of new birth.

Finally we ended in the chapel. It was decorated beautifully and my picture doesn't do it justice at all! The room was filled with pictures of Christ. Our two guides then bore testimony of the truthfulness of our "tour". Finally all of the leaders and parents were invited to come and sing "I Know That my Redeemer Lives". It was beautiful, even though it was not practiced, because it gave us, as their examples a chance to bear testimony to them, through songm that Jesus lives....that He loves us, and that through his sacrifice we will live with our Father in Heaven again.

Jared's Graduation Party!

Jared finally graduated from cosmetology school and we decided to have a family party to celebrate! Jen made tacos and I picked up the chocolate cake of his choice. Here is the graduate all decked out in his ridiculously cool vest!

Aw...major points to the wife for sticking it out for 14 months!

The Taco Feast! Thanks Jen!!
Mmmmm....guacamole....

This face was just too cute to pass up. I love little miss Katherine!

A surprise picture of Wesley! He spent most of the night drawing pictures of Marvin the Martian...he is extremely talented!

Andrew waiting patiently to dig in!

Look at that taco! I am sure you're making your Aby proud!

That is taco number three for Mr. Jared....he was a big fan!

Amy decided she wanted a guacamole taco! That's right, just tortilla and guacamole. A girl after my own heart!

Couldn't resist this shot....

Jared with his graduation cake, and a candle for good luck!

He graduated on his brother Jon's birthday so we thought we'd send a birthday shout-out! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JON! We had a piece of cake for you!

These pictures....just had to be taken. The kids DEVOURED the cake, and were practically covered in it by the time they were finished.

Yes, that is a chocolate beard. She LOVES chocolate cake!

Sometimes I ALMOST like it....

This is my view as I drive into work in the morning. Sometimes, I ALMOST like living here. That view is just gorgeous! Don't worry, as soon as I get out of the car and freeze I remember that I don't like it here after all!

Look at that beautiful mountain view!

Work Shenanigans

One of my supervisor's, Adam, had a birthday and my pod-mate and partner in crime, Jessica (LOVE HER) decided that he needed a birthday surprise! We stayed late so we could decorate his desk. I made the balloons, she made the birthday chain, and then...we decorated his desk in post-its! Yes, I put post-its on his phone, soda can and even his banana!

Jessica took over decorating his chair...

Here is the finished product. Pretty fine work if you ask me! Thank goodness he thought it was funny and didn't get mad that he had to spend the first 30 minutes of his shift cleaning up the mess the next day!
