The New Place!

We finally moved into our new basement apartment and I couldn't be happier to have my own space again. We are still in Layton for now, and will be living month-to-month until we figure out what we are going to do. I need to preface this that I should have let Jared take the photos...I just do not have the talent! Hopefully it will give you all an idea of what our place looks like, and put my mom's mind at ease to know where we are living. Our lovely, desolate entryway.

This is the half-bath, and the way it is set up is really weird because it's in the entryway, and it honestly looks like it should be a coat closet. But then SURPRISE it's the bathroom! Here is the front room taken from the entryway. Jared and I have deemed this the "Couch Room" because our couch takes up pretty much the entire room. I guess that is the problem with buying a "Jared-sized" couch.
Here is another shot of the couch room. Doesn't it look so comfy?? Definitely one of the things we missed most while living with the Norton's.

Here is the laundry room! I LOVE being able to do laundry whenever I want. Thanks to Jazmine and Brenton for selling us their almost-new washer and dryer set. They are being well used.
Here is the couch room and dining room. I tried to do some of those panoramic shots...I just don't have a steady hand. But at least it gives you an idea of how the room is set up. There isn't really a separate dining room, which is kind of lame, but the kitchen has some good space, which made having the dining room possible. Oh, and this is our brand new table. We ended up giving our old one to the Norton's, and this was our new purchase. LOVE IT

Here's the kitchen. It's really spacious, which I love, and has tons of storage. The only bummer is that there isn't a pantry so we're using the closet in the family room to store a lot of our food.
Here's the full bathroom. There is a door that leads from our bedroom directly into the bathroom, and also a door from the hallway.

Here is the second bedroom/computer room. We need a computer chair because our dining room chairs are all too tall. Right now, we are using the stability ball, but it just isn't tall enough.

Ah yes, and here are all of the boxes of books, fine china, and sheet music. I am still debating on whether I am even going to unpack them. After moving four times in 18 months I am hesitant to unpack things that I know I won't use in the next six months.

Here's the hallway

Here is our bedroom. I love how big it is...and that not all of our stuff has to be crammed in one little room. : )

And here is our walk-out patio. I am planning a garden for this summer and I am so excited! We have never lived anywhere that had a place for us to plant anything.
All in all, I am really excited to be living on our own again. Right now Jared is still unemployed, so that's been a little stressful, but I am grateful that my job has been offering overtime so that we are able to meet all of our financial obligations. I feel blessed to be living here, and so grateful that we were able to find a place in our current ward because I love being in the YW program and I didn't feel like my team with these particular girls was up yet.

  4. It is so nice to have a place of your own. I'm so excited for you. Just wished you lived closer so I could actually see you sometime. Don't bother unpacking those totes...if you need something in there just dig it out. And good luck on the garden, I'm glad we got ours in before Evan was born.

  5. Wow it looks amazing! I love the couch room :) And I'm glad you get to stay in your ward for now. With being in YW 2.5 years and just finishing the road show I have been feeling like I'm going to be released soon and I'm dreading it :( Anyways the whole place looks fantastic and I'm uber jealous of your kitchen and your very own washer/dryer. I just keep telling myself SOMEDAY!!! I hope Jared finds work soon. I thought he had a salon that was interested in him?
