For Mutual last week, and to celebrate Easter, the Young Women leaders decided to put together a "Christ Walk". It was absolutely incredible. I have to forewarn you that the pictures are not very good. I was trying to take some shots without detracting from the Spirit. We started out in an Easter room. It was decorated with bunnies and other Easter goodies. We had each of the kids show up with an Easter basket and they also had to carry a 2-liter bottle filled with water. They talked about Easter and how the kids would soon learn the true meaning of Easter as they took a walk through the last week of Christ's life. We had two guides, dressed in white, who led us through these events.

Next, we all went into a room portraying "The Triumphal Entry" and a ward member spoke about Jesus's entry into Jerusalem. The decorations were awesome, and at the end each kid received a small palm leaf as a symbol of the event to go into their Easter basket.

Here's the donkey Christ rode in on as well as the cobblestones covered in small palm leafs.

Next, we traveled to the Last Supper. Here we had a presentation on how the upper room was found to hold the supper as well as the washing of the apostles feet. The speaker concentrated on the service and love required from the Lord for this humble act. The kids then received a small rag to symbolize the rag Jesus used to wash the Apostle's feet to go into their baskets.

The next room was the Garden of Gethsemane. Here, the speaker talked about the great suffering and sacrifice of our Savior Jesus Christ in the garden. He concentrated on the fact that Jesus suffered more in that garden than even HE was prepared for and that is why he asked for the cup to pass from Him. What he suffered in the garden far surpassed the pain he would feel on the cross. Even though the pain was seemingly unbearable, He sacrificed himself to release us from our sins.

The kids were then told that the 2-liter water bottles they carried symbolized the sin and burdens of this life and they were invited to leave the bottles at Christ's feet. He took on our sins and our burdens through his sacrifice.

Next, we moved to the Crucifixion. Bishop Johnson was able to give the kids a history of why Jesus was hung and how this fulfilled prophecy. We also watched a beautiful rendition of "His Hands" with a lovely video of miracles and acts of service throughout Christ's life.

Next, we entered the tomb. Here we learned that Jesus was risen! They were given a small rock to be reminded of the stone that kept man out but could not keep Jesus in. They were also given an egg to be reminded of new birth.

Finally we ended in the chapel. It was decorated beautifully and my picture doesn't do it justice at all! The room was filled with pictures of Christ. Our two guides then bore testimony of the truthfulness of our "tour". Finally all of the leaders and parents were invited to come and sing "I Know That my Redeemer Lives". It was beautiful, even though it was not practiced, because it gave us, as their examples a chance to bear testimony to them, through songm that Jesus lives....that He loves us, and that through his sacrifice we will live with our Father in Heaven again.
WOW! That is amazing! I'm tearing up just reading about it. What a great activity and reminder of the Savior and His sacrifice. I'm sure it's an activity that they will remember forever.
