What a month it has been! I definitely feel like I have found my voice again, so I consider this exercise a complete success. I have learned a lot and been reminded of all the blessings I have.
Today, I am grateful to be a mom, and we are excited to welcome baby #2 to the family around June 12th of next year. :D

The Apple of my eye
Is that how the saying goes? Now I can't remember!
Today's post is dedicated to my son, Christian. I don't feel like gratitude really sums up how I feel about this little man. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful, but it's so much more than that. He changed my life. I never knew such joy and love was possible. I want him to have everything he wants, and I have to keep myself in check because I know it's not healthy for him to have everything he wants! He can cry and scream for hours, and I can be stressed out of my mind, but the minute he calms down and gives me a smile, or a hug, or says, "Mama", I am filled with joy and everything else disappears. In my eyes no kid is smarter, cuter, more clever, or funnier than him. He can be such a pill too - especially as he is gearing up for the terrible two's, but really he is a great kid. He gets along well with people, he is easy going, a good eater, and full of love.
I am so grateful for the fulfillment that he has brought to my life and to Jared's. Our family feels more complete with him in it.

Day 28
As this little blog series is winding down, I have to express my gratitude for something that is immensely important to me - the gospel of Jesus Christ.
For those of you who don't know, I was raised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This is an absolute blessing, but even being raised with good morals and standards, I wasn't content to just follow blindly. I found for myself that what I am taught is true. I learned and continue to learn from my mistakes. I exercised the principles that I had been taught. I developed a relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. I learned what it means to feel contrition, to repent, to USE the atonement. I have felt the healing power and peace that comes from trusting in Him. I have felt temptations leave me and my burdens be lifted. I am not perfect. I am continually learning. But the point is that I WANT to be better, and He knows that I can be. He loves me. I know my role and my purpose in this life and that is not something to be taken lightly. I am so grateful for the knowledge that I have, and that I have the opportunity to continually learn. I am grateful for a Savior that is so patient and full of love and who knows ME.

Day 27
I am starting to think that 30 days just isn't enough time. There are so many people and so many things I am grateful for, that I am feeling guilty for everything that's being left out! Maybe that's the best part of doing something like this...seeing in writing all the things I have and all the people that bless my life!
Today I am grateful for books and reading. Books not only bring enjoyment to my life and a way to pass the time - they have the opportunity to uplift me and speak to my soul in ways that other things can't. I have learned so much, both secularly and spiritually from well written books. I have had life changing experiences, spiritual enlightenment, and personal growth come from reading. I am so grateful for the written word. I am so happy that I was raised in a home that taught me the joy and satisfaction that comes from continued education.

Day 26
Man, I am really slacking! It's like as soon as Thanksgiving was done, I completely forgot all about this! ;)
Yesterday, as I was sitting in bed trying to decide what to write, I found the perfect thing! And then Christian started asking for the kazoo again, and the moment was lost. Here's what I wanted to say yesterday:
I am so grateful for my sister in law Jamie. She and her husband Tim, and their three kids are an absolute joy to be around and SO MUCH FUN! Whenever we are together, they make me laugh, and I am so grateful to have them in my life. Jamie is a great listener and I feel like she has a way about her that makes whoever she is talking to feel like the only person in the room! She is fun, vivacious and just so full of life. I am so grateful for her, and the friendship that we are continually developing together. I love that she loves and appreciates Jared so much. I feel like, out of all of his siblings, Jamie is really the one that "gets" him and it just makes me love her more. She was my saving grace right after I had Christian. She helped me see that if I was crying or overwhelmed - that it didn't make me a bad mom. She took time out of her day to come and watch him so that Jared and I could go out, even for just a couple of hours. I am not sure that even she knows what a big help that was to me at that time.
She and her family are so sweet to Christian too, it is such a blessing to have them around.

Days 23 and 24
Funny, I thought I posted yesterday...guess not!
Yesterday, I was grateful for an impromptu dinner out with my two best guys! Jared surprised Christian and I with a nice dinner to Outback. We hadn't been there since I was about 4 months pregnant with Christian. It was such a nice treat! To top it off, Christian was SUPER well behaved, which doesn't happen as often anymore ;) Afterward, we went to Toys R Us to get some gifts for our nieces and nephews. With as much as Jared is working, I was so grateful for a fun night out!
Today I am grateful for Jared's job as a hairstylist. His business continues to grow, which is such a blessing. The income is wonderful, but what is even better is how much Jared loves it. He is so happy doing hair, and that makes me happy. I am so grateful that after years of searching, he was able to find a career he loves!
