Today, I am grateful for Veterans, but especially "my" veteran...my dad. He is my hero. When I think of sacrifice, hard work, devotion, courage and love, he is who comes to mind. He is a Veteran of the Vietnam War who came home, started a life with the woman he loved and didn't look back. He is plagued with unintended consequences because of the sacrifice that he made, but he has never let that stop him from living his life. He is an inspiration. Right now he is the commander of his unit with the DAV and spends his time helping other disabled veterans get the help and support that they need. He is a man of action with a heart to match his inner strength and devotion.
My Dad taught me the meaning of hard work. He taught me my value as a person and as a woman. He taught me strength to face the challenges that life offers, but the grace and graitude needed to
thrive in this life. I have his smile and sense of humor which I am grateful for because it helps other people overlook so many of my shortcomings. ;) There is nothing my Dad can't do, and nothing he wouldn't do for me. He really is my hero and I am so grateful and lucky to have him in my life. I can't wait for all of the new adventures that are in store for he and I, and now my son.
Today, I m grateful for my Dad.
