Hi Sister!

Today I am grateful for my older sister, Bethany. She is one of my very best friends. She understands me and where I am coming from better than just about anyone in this world. She can make me laugh, cry, angry, frustrated and just about everything in between, but she brings me so much happiness and helps me feel LOVED...unconditionally. I love that I can complain about things and she listens without judgment, I love that she is so giving and generous. I love her beautiful and free spirit. She makes this world a more beautiful place.

I love you sister, and thank you for loving me despite how hard I make it sometimes ;)

And to her husband Ian, you lucked out my friend!

A month of thanks

So I just realized that the post I did yesterday never got published, it was sitting in my drafts....WHOOPS. So let's try this again.

I feel like my blog posts have turned into "everything Christian all the time". I know that this is natural. He's my baby. Whenever I am not working, I am spending every minute I can (that he'll let me!) kissing his ridiculously cute face. But I realized something, I am still Lindsey! That sassy, opinionated, mistake-making, hard working friend that you all know and love.. Who just happens to also be a mom! Some days I feel like I am losing my identity, and I think that is one of the worst things that can happen. I feel lost lately. I have decided that one way I can work on this is by joining the "I am thankful" bandwagon going on right now. If I can concentrate on what I am thankful for, maybe I will take a minute to look beyond myself for once...maybe I can find the zest for life that I seem to be missing as I remember all the things in my life I am grateful for!

Today I am grateful for old friends. It is nice to see myself through the eyes of people who knew me when I was younger...before I was a wife and a mom. Before I was burnt out on working. Before I traded in my identity for the ease of blending in. People who look at me and see the girl who loves to laugh, and serve others, and who has a sharp tongue, but a love for others that overshadows it all. I am grateful for friends who love me and help remind me of who I was, and who I want to be again.

Yesterday was kind of a downer. I want to assure you that I am happy! I just miss certain parts of myself and I am ready to put forth the effort to regain these attributes!

Today I am grateful for a husband who is so easy-going and so willing to compromise. He makes life fun and exciting and peaceful. Jared is my very best friend and I am so glad that he is willing to put up with my crap because he brings me so much joy. Thank you for settling on Red Robin just because your crazy wife was craving it!

Reflection

It baffles my mind when I think about it.

Today, as I am sitting here, I am thinking about all of the blessings I have. A beautiful family, a job I like, co-workers that make me laugh, extended family surrounding me and so willing to help, a house I love, a ward full of some of my favorite people on earth. I am just so grateful.

Fall is in the air

Usually, summer is, by far, my favorite season. I love the long, hot sunny days. I love the BBQ's and parties with friends. I love 4th of July. I love swimming. I just LOVE IT.

I have found, however, that after having a child, I am looking forward to fall and winter more than I ever have before. There is so much excitement around Halloween and what Christian is going to wear, and whether he'll say "Trick or Treat". I can't wait to carve pumpkins and let him make a mess and have a great time. I want to go to the pumpkin patch and let him pick out his favorite. I want to do crafts and make memories.  I want the Holidays to be fun and mean something special for him....I am turning into such a SAP! But look at this face!? How can I not be excited for what is to come!?

One Proud Mama

Today was Christian's 18 month check up.

Basically he is healthy as a horse! He is 27.12 lbs and 36" tall. I can't believe he's already 3 feet tall! He'll be riding all the rides at Disneyland in no time.

The doctor also gave him an A+ for development, mobility and language/communication. He said he was smart, (a mother always loves to hear that!), fast and had great communication/comprehension. He even jumped with both feet off the ground while we were in the office and the doctor was pleased.


I am so grateful for a healthy, happy little boy, because I know there are so many people who don't have that. He brings me immense happiness and my heart is full today.
