Beth's Wedding!

(warning! LOOOONG post!)

Who else is completely stoked that my sister Bethany got married??? I know I am! After TWELVE years of being together, it's about dang time! :) The wedding took place at Edgewood which is a swanky golf course and country club in Lake Tahoe, so it was absolutely beautiful. Add to that the fact that it was summer in Lake Tahoe and you really can't have a more spectacular setting for a wedding. The wedding took place Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon.

My parents rented a HUGE cabin for our extended family to stay in. It ended up being 8 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, and it was just up the hill from Edgewood. We had quite the group there. My parents, Brooke and Elaine, my Aunt Sue and Uncle Mark, Aunt Jo and Uncle Kevin. My Aunts Terry and Carolyn came out from Indiana and Ohio to celebrate. I had TONS of cousins there also. Keith, Joel, Karl, Mark Allen, Mark and Timarie and their kids, Ryan, Kalena and Triana. My cousin Shauna and her son Shaun. And finally, my cousin Erin, her husband Justin and their kids Madison, Kennedy, Reegan and Bronx. Kennedy and Reegan were Beth's flower girls and they were ADORABLE. When we get pictures back, I will have to post some of the professional ones becuase mine just do not do it justice.

Jared, Christian and I got there Wednesday afternoon. We had planned to get there earlier but I came down with the flu Tuesday. I felt completely terrible. I actually had to leave work early Tuesday and proceeded to go home and lay in bed shivering with a fever and a pounding headache with a garbage can by my bed. NOT GOOD. Luckily, my husband is the ward mission leader and so he had planned to have a quick meeting with the missionaries that night so I was able to get a blessing. I was not 100% until Sunday, but I was able to make it through all of the events for the wedding that I needed to be a part of, so I consider that a huge blessing!

We had the best room in the house. It was a huge king bed with windows looking out to the beautiful scenery that is Lake Tahoe. It had it's own bathroom (which was a rare commodity in that huge house, so we didn't have to share with anyone, hahaha!), and even a rocking chair which came in handy for Christian and I :)

Here is a picture of my Aunt Terri, Christian and Elaine in front of our bedroom window. Isn't she adorable?? And do you love how Christian already looks bigger than her! hahaha

After we got there Wednesday we were able to relax for a little bit, and then we headed out to the rehearsal dinner. Or I guess I should say TRIED to head out to the rehearsal dinner. Jared had set down the car keys and couldn't find them anywhere. We turned that whole house upside down and finally, Aunt Sue said we could borrow their car. After about 30 minutes, we were on our way. The dinner was wonderful. It was a small setting at the Lakeside Inn, but Peggy (Ian's mom) made it beautiful with her decorations and sweet gifts for the bridesmaids and groomsmen. I was still sick as a dog so I didn't eat much, but it was still a great time with all of the wedding party that was there.

When we got home, we did find the keys!!! Thank goodness! Jared had set them down on a ledge in our bedroom and then hung our clothes up...in front of the keys! After a quick little prayer, I found them there, so that was a relief.

The day of the wedding was beautiful. We had an actual rehearsal at the venue at 10:00 that morning, and after that, I went home to get ready. Jared did my hair and I have to say that it turned out FANTASTIC. He did exactly what I wanted him to, so I was a happy camper. Edgewood has a brides' room, so we were able to go there to actually get into our dresses. We were all supposed to meet there at 3:00, but by 3:30 only Brooke and I were there. Bethany came in completely rushed, apparently there had been a problem with her eyelashes! So she was shaking and panicked, but I was able to help her get the dress all laced up and help her into it. It really was just such a cool experience. She looked stunning. There's no other way to describe it. Pictures don't capture how breathtaking she looked. Although she was nervous and stressed, she couldn't have been prettier and I was on the verge of tears pretty much the whole time.

Once she was ready, we all went up to the actual venue to line up for entry. Just as the first people were starting to go in, the photographer ran up and stopped them because the music (Once Upon a Dream, from Sleeping Beauty), hadn't started yet! So we all waited on the side until they went and found the freaking DJ who was down drinking in the lobby! Insert rolling eyes here. Finally we were able to enter and everything went great until....the vows.

OH MY GOSH. So Beth, my beautiful, wonderful sister, hired a very nice female pastor to do the ceremony. She turned to Ian and said, "Do you Ian, take Britney..." Yup, you read right....BRITNEY. I said "Bethany!" as loud as I could without being disruptive, but she didn't hear me and Ian just said, "I do" hahahaha! Any way, later on, she turned to Beth and said, "Do you Britn...I mean Bethany. BETHANY..." and got so embarassed. I don't blame her. I think everyone there wanted to kill her. Other than that, it was a nice ceremony. I think a part of me was a little bit sad, just because I want everyone who is in love to be together FOREVER, but I am happy for her nonetheless.

After the ceremony we took TONS of pictures, and hopefully they turn out great and can capture how beautiful everything and everyone was :) Once that was done, it was time to party!!! The reception was fun, the food was yummy and there was tons of dancing! I even gave a toast and 1. Didn't sob my eyes out and 2. Didn't throw up from anxiety over having to speak in public, so I consider that a win! LOL

The cake, made by Alyssa Immel. Isn't it pretty? She was a friend of Beth's from high school and I actually worked with her at Baskin Robbins where she did the cake decorating! So glad she is able to do what she loves.

The two lovebirds cutting the cake. Can you see the dragon cake topper and the champagne glasses that form the dragon heart?

Jared and I with beautiful Lake Tahoe behind us.

After cutting the cake they had their own personal toast.
Love my hubby.

All in all it was a beautiful week. Although I didn't get out much because I wasn't feeling well, it was fun to visit with all of my family. Jared even got to go golfing with the men in my family and had a great time! I am so glad that Beth and Ian have finally taken the plunge of getting married. I am so happy that they found each other, and that they have made it official. I wish them a lifetime of love, laughter and happiness!
